A Productive Evening at Peacock Coffee Gajadmada
Peacock Coffee is probably one
of the hippest coffee shops far before coffee shops in Semarang become popular.
Located in Gajahmada, one of the most strategist locations in the city, Peacock
Coffee has its own appeal—to be honest this coffee shop is quite unique. From
the outside, this coffee shop doesn’t look quite spacious. However, your eyes
can trick you. In fact, this two-story building can hold quite a lot of people
in it. If you are a non-smoker, the first floor is for you. There is one large
table which can be used as a shared table. Behind the stairs, the tables are
made for 1 to 2 persons. The toilet is also located on the first floor.
Meanwhile, the second floor is made for smoking.

The coffee here is nice.
Unfortunately, they give the same price (IDR 33,000) for whatever coffee you
choose (unless for a cup of espresso, you can get 1x refill). Peacock coffee
also serves many kind of snacks/ appetizers: macaroni schotel, pies, and some cakes. In
my opinion, Peacock Coffee always has the most appetizing appetizer shelf!
My favorite corner to get my
task done is by the window. This is what makes Peacock Coffee different from
other coffee shops: it has a super big window! So you can watch people come and
go outside the coffee shop—you can also enjoy looking at the busy street from
where you sit. For me, nothing beats the serenity drinking my favorite cup of
coffee (or tea; yes, they also serve tea!) while looking outside. The best time
to be here is around 3PM. I don’t recommend to come here at night, because it
gets more crowded than in the morning or noon.
If you are looking for a
coffee shop that has a big window in it and is located in the main street, you
could try Peacock Coffee Gajahmada. The vibe going on in this coffee shop is
really nice. Despite the 'okay' taste of coffee, the lychee tea here is quite
good (plus you can get 2x refill). FYI, Peacock Coffee has another branch
located in Gombel Lama.

Peacock Coffee has become one
of my personal preferences for coffee shops in Semarang.
